About the Position  
Are you ready to advance your insights career and lead research engagements with the world’s leading brands? The Account Manager works closely with a Practice Leader as well as business development, client services, and marketing colleagues to:  

  • Engage with existing and potential clients,   

  • Understand their primary research needs,   

  • Craft quantitative and qualitative research solutions to address those needs,   

  • Deliver superior client experiences, and   

  • Ensure profitable business engagements.    

This Account Manager role requires flexibility and resourcefulness to meet their defined revenue goal. Day to day work includes the development of proposals, serving as a Project or Sr. Consultant on related project work, and overseeing account-specific project operations and thought leadership. This person is a:

  • Creative problem-solver with a depth of experience in custom quantitative, qualitative and measurement work with a passion for data storytelling, and  

  • Proven thought leadership and presentation skills.   

This person will already have existing success within the clients served by CMB’s Platforms and Audiences Practice. This position reports directly to CMB's SVP, Platforms & Audiences Practice.

This role may be hybrid in Boston or work remotely in the US.

About Your Background  
You’ve worked hard to get to where you are and are ready to build expertise in our accounts and contribute to allow CMB to expand account/industry expertise, up-level insights/reporting, and reduce or replace Senior Consultant project time. Here’s what you’ll be doing and the qualifications we are looking for:  

Responsibilities and Expectations 

Sales and Account Management Team Expectations 

  • Partner with clients to ensure project success 

  • Ensure end-to-end client/project delivery in alignment with project team leading to high client satisfaction with project deliverables 

  • Clearly communicate needs and expectations to project teams 

  • Adhere to CMB’s defined approaches, processes, and best practices 

  • Follow CMB- and client-specific Information Security Policies 

Essential Duties 

Client Partnership & Strategic Consulting 

  • Act as a strategist and consultant to help activate learning and drive client outcomes   

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned key client accounts, integrating competitive, client, and industry insights into project execution and to identify opportunities for proactive proposals 

  • Build and deepen relationships with client teams by understanding their business goals, providing research guidance and coaching, and coordinating engagement activities (e.g., lunch & learns) 

  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, and Client Services teams to grow and develop key client accounts through relationship building, strategic input, and research execution oversight 

  • Identify opportunities for proactive proposals based on industry expertise and client business needs 

  • Lead operations-level support as needed – client compliance, documentation, resource management, etc.  

Sales & Business Development 

  • Partner with assigned others in Sales & Account Management to meet established goals (e.g., sales, client satisfaction, client/product/project profitability, team efficiency, talent mentorship) 

  • Support account-related conference content, webinars, blogs, articles, etc. through writing, traveling to client meetings, and attending conferences, as needed 

  • Relationship building with client teams. Understand how to help them succeed in their role via providing research guidance and coaching, coordinating “lunch and learn” meetings, etc. 

Research Execution & Project Leadership 

  • Serve as Project Consultant and/or Senior Consultant dependent on project and/or account complexity  

  • Drive high-quality insight generation with a focus on delivering holistic, strategic recommendations. 

  • Focus on elevating insights and offering a comprehensive perspective within and across projects  

  • Collaborate with Insights & Strategy Operations to ensure deliverables meet both client objectives and internal profitability targets 

  • Provide operations-level support as needed, including client compliance, documentation, and resource management 

Thought Leadership & Brand Presence 

  • Support the development and promotion of thought leadership content, including blogs, articles, webinars, and conference presentations 

  • Post on social media and help promote webinars and other thought leadership content in 1:1 emails 

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to build relationships with clients and prospects, and surface new business opportunities within existing and new accounts 

Employee Engagement & Development 

  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization, including peers, junior staff, external partners, and senior leaders 

  • Contribute to a culture of feedback by participating in and completing peer reviews in a timely manner 

  • Help maintain a positive team culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives and providing constructive feedback that promotes professional growth 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Marketing, Market Research, Business Management, Psychology, Sociology, Applied Economics, Political Science, or related field 

  • 7+ years professional experience 

  • 4+ years independently managing multiple custom market research projects 

  • Understanding of market research methods with applied knowledge of primary research techniques (e.g., trade-off designs, factor analysis, driver modeling) 

  • Strong growth mindset, including the ability and/or desire to confidently develop and present proposals to existing and potential new accounts 

  • Demonstrated management or successful mentoring experience 

  • Experience delegating, managing, and influencing teams and individuals 

  • Understanding of complex market research methods 

  • Excellent at partnering on project resources and timelines 

  • Excellent at managing multiple relationships and priorities 

  • Excellent at establishing and managing relationships with clients, vendors, and co-workers 

  • Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 

  • Sense of humor 

  • Self-aware 

  • A leader

  • The utilization goal for this opening is 55%, but will vary based on assigned accounts

The annual base salary range for this position is $98,000-$122,000 plus bonus, benefits, and an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). The base salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) experience, expertise, skills, and employee's location.
