About the Position 
Are you a consumer insights and strategy expert looking to advance your career in strategic communication? We are seeking a Sr. Director of Content Strategy to lead all aspects of CMB’s strategic brand communication, developing high-impact content that informs, inspires, and engages clients and prospects. This role would lead efforts to conduct thought leadership research, develop conference presentations and reports, and work cross-functionally to translate content into sales and marketing collateral. The result will be greater client and prospect engagement with CMB content, more high value client/prospect meetings with our practice leads, and strong conversion rates through the purchase journey.  

This role reports into the VP, Growth Strategy. This role may be hybrid in Boston or work remotely in the US. 
 
About You 
The ideal candidate is a consumer insights and marketing strategy expert who can humanize CMB’s value proposition, show clients how we deliver and activate insights, and ultimately deliver impactful brand marketing, customer experiences, and product innovation.  

This person understands our end-client needs and ensures all content is tailored to our industry practice areas, aligned to defined purchase journey needs, and showcases the CMB advantage over current solutions. Responsibilities include defining content goals, ensuring brand consistency, managing content creation processes, and analyzing content performance.

About Your Background 
You’ve worked hard to get to where you are and are seeking to play an important role in identifying and building insights thought leadership content for leading brands. You are flexible and enjoy applying both creative and analytical thinking to come up with bold, strategic content ideas. Here’s what you’ll be doing and the qualifications we are looking for: 
 
Responsibilities and Expectations 

Strategy Development 

  • Develop specific campaign content strategies, including identifying client speaker topics, self-funded research topics, and ways to partner with industry associations.  Content strategy will be tailored to both insights professionals and executive decision-makers to align with business goals and marketing objectives.  

  • Ensure all content consistently reflects our voice, tone, and desired messaging. Act as a key player in continuously evolving and refining guidelines to stay aligned with our brand evolution and market needs. 

  • Develop and optimize content workflows and editorial processes to ensure timely, high-quality delivery aligned with CMB’s marketing and business objectives - supporting lead generation, client engagement, and brand differentiation. 

  • Surface real-time content opportunities based on trends, cultivate conversations online, and work with our team to drive content engagement. 

Team Leadership 

  • Provide clear vision and actionable feedback to ensure the team consistently delivers thought-provoking, best-in-class content that deepens client relationships and supports business growth. 

  • Lead a cross-functional team to build and deliver high-value content across all client touch-points during the pre-and post-purchase journey.  Set clear expectations with stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution at the highest level. 

  • Make it easy for account executives, brand growth, and strategy & activation team to translate long-form content into accessible resources that clients can use to inform project planning. Work with operations to map content to client needs in the content management system for proactive outreach.  

  • Partner effectively with external collaborators to produce high-impact content that amplifies our brand and thought leadership. 

  • Foster collaborative outcomes grounded in strategic thinking, creativity, and a passion for translating complex research into compelling, client-centric narratives. 

  • Cultivate an inclusive environment where colleagues are empowered to experiment, evolve, and challenge conventional approaches to content in service of CMB’s strategic goals. 

Content Production and Management 

  • Lead the execution of our content strategy, driving brand awareness, demand generation, and brand reputation, ensuring we capture the right tone and voice to cultivate meetings and opportunities with our existing and prospective clients. 

  • Oversee all in-house content development. Work with content writers, video production team, and the design team on creative development in diverse content formats (e.g., articles, videos, social media).  

  • Own the content narrative, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and positioning while proactively adapting to evolving market needs. 

  • Provide end-to-end project management for technical writing, including setting messaging strategy, writing deliverables, getting stakeholder buy-in, and providing final approval before publication. 

  • Work with ad agency to plan and oversee content distribution strategies across various channels (e.g., website, social media, email) and to ensure content is optimized for generative and search engines (GEO/SEO).  

  • Lead the strategic integration of AI tools and technologies to elevate content development, drive operational efficiency, enhance personalization, and ensure outputs are smarter, faster, and more impactful. 

  • Analyze content performance data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions to improve effectiveness and identify how our data is and isn’t meeting customer and business needs. 

  • Continuously refine content strategies, plans and assets to drive measurable impact, and reinforce CMB’s reputation as a leader in market research and insights. 

  • Communicate the content strategy and its progress to various stakeholders, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams. 

Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent experience preferred 

  • 5+ years client or agency experience in consumer insights, content development, brand strategy, or strategic consulting 

  • Experienced in scoping and applying B2B and B2C market research methodologies 

  • Expertise in Insights Activation preferred 

  • Demonstrated ability to customize writing for different audiences and intents 

  • Strong collaboration, relationship building and leadership skills with experience overseeing cross-functional teams of writers, marketing agencies, and insights executives to deliver high-impact content 

  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple content projects at once, including working with stakeholders to understand trade-offs when priorities compete with one another 

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging survey data, qualitative interviews, and secondary data to craft compelling, insight-driven narratives—with a clear ability to measure impact and translate findings into actionable strategies that drive business outcomes 

  • Expertise in developing messaging strategy that inform content creation and drive demand across the customer journey 

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives across multiple formats 

  • A strategic, hands-on approach with a deep understanding of content’s role in driving brand growth and business outcomes 

  • Passionate about delivering the optimal buying experience and win-win solutions for clients and prospects 

  • Conversant in market research methods and familiarity with custom market research 

  • Enjoys working collaboratively with the team to learn and improve processes and “win” together 

  • Strong communication, marketing/sales skills, and business acumen (written, verbal, non-verbal, video) 

  • Proficient user of Copilot, ChatGPT, or other generative AI tools 

  • Demonstrated skills in building relationships via social media, email/text, and video calls 

  • Exceptional Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) skills 

  • Sense of humor and self-awareness

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000 plus bonus, benefits, and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). The base salary is dependent on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) experience, expertise, skills, and employee's location.
